Deals: levelFilm, Comedy Network, Elevation

Toronto's levelFilms readies Glassland (pictured) for a March release in Canada, and more deals of the week.

levelFILM
Toronto-based distributor levelFILM has picked up the Canadian distribution rights for Irish film Glassland, and will release the feature in select theatres on March 11, followed by a VOD and digital release on March 15. The film, set in Dublin, tells the story of a young taxi driver who gets caught up in a human traffickign ring while trying to help his mother beat addiction. The film stars Jack Reynor, Toni Collette and Will Poulter. Glassland is produced by Juliette Bonnass and Ed Guiney, with Andrew Lowe and Gerard Barett sevring as executive producers.

Comedy Network
Bell Media’s The Comedy Network has picked up the Canadian rights to Angie Tribeca, a procedural comedy created by Nancy Carell and Steve Carell and starring Rashida Jones. The first season of the series includes 10, half-hour episodes, and follows veteran detective Angie Tribeca who ends up with an unwanted partner, J Geils. Angie Tribeca will have its series premiere on The Comedy Network on Tuesday, March 1 at 10:30 p.m.

Elevation Pictures
Toronto distributor Elevation Pictures has inked a multi-year output deal with Los Angeles-based Bold Films, the prodco behind films such as Whiplash and No Escape. Read more about the deal here

Vancouver-based Brightlight Pictures and MVP Entertainment have inked a joint venture deal to build proprietary ownership of television, film and interactive media rights. Read more about the deal here.

Raven Banner
Raven Banner has taken the world rights to Gaurav Seth’s sci-fi thriller Prisoner X. The film, which is produced by Avi Federgreen and Robyn Bigué, is being shopped at the Berlin International Film Festival’s European Film Market. Read more about the deal here.

Marina Cordoni Entertainment
Marina Cordoni Entertainment has sold the U.S. distribution rights to Ana Valine’s dark drama Sitting On The Edge of Marlene to Philadelphia-based distributor Breaking Glass. Read more about the deal here
