Equinoxe reveals Secrets

Equinoxe Films and Milagro Films, both based in Montreal, have signed a deal with Zebra Producciones in Spain to copro Secrets, a feature thriller to shoot in Quebec and Spain next year. The script – about a woman’s search for her missing boyfriend – comes from Antonio Saura (Salomé) and will be directed by his brother, Carlos Saura Medrano (Oculto).

Saura produces with Michael Mosca of Equinoxe and Milagro’s Jean-Marc Félio. The trio met at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival and again during a recent matchup for Canada/Spain copros.

‘We are particularly delighted with the wonderful script,’ said Mosca and Félio in a statement, ‘which is entertaining and edge of the seat exciting.’

Saura and Saura Medrano are the sons of noted Spanish filmmaker Carlos Saura (Salomé, Iberia).

Shortly after the deal was announced, Canada and Spain renewed their coproduction treaty, replacing the 1985 agreement with a new deal that includes TV projects.
