The Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA) has inked a tentative deal with Nabet 700-M Unifor for a new collective agreement for Ontario technical crew members.
The deal is still subject to a ratification vote from Nabet 700-M Unifor members and the CMPA board of directors.
The new agreement includes “updated terms, conditions and rates” for crew members, with further details to come once it has been ratified. It will replace the existing agreement, which expires on Dec. 31.
Nabet 700-M Unifor represents close to 3,000 crew members in Ontario across 14 technical departments, including lighting, grip, construction, hair, makeup, props, set decoration and sound.
In a statement, Sean Porter, CMPA’s VP of national industrial relations and counsel, said the deal “recognizes the invaluable role of Nabet crew members as essential production partners,” and thanked the bargaining teams for reaching an agreement “that maintains stability in Ontario, and benefits the future of our sector in this province.”
Nabet 700-M Unifor president Ryan Pogue added that the agreement “demonstrates the commitment and dedication from both the CMPA and Nabet 700-M Unifor to help shape a future of growth in film and television production here in Ontario.”
