Thank you for including me in your Oct. 16 feature ’20 people, events, trends and things that made a difference.’ I was truly flattered (especially as my photo on the front page was positioned so closely to the lovely Avril Lavigne).
While it is nice to be singled out, I would be remiss in not mentioning that many people have been involved in bringing pictures to Canada, and helping build the industry through service and copros. To name a few: Patrick Whitley at Dufferin Gate Productions, Marilyn Stonehouse at Pebblehut Productions, Matthew O’Connor and Michael O’Connor in B.C., as well as the guys at Brightlight Pictures.
I may have been one of the first with the large features, but that’s just because I’m getting so darn old. However, I’m not old enough to have done ‘over 100 productions.’ I think I’m only up to 87-89 or thereabouts. In any case, I have always found producing pictures in Canada to be a fun, welcoming and thoroughly professional experience. So kudos to all those actors, technicians, unions, equipment and supply houses, labs, sound facilities and other support people for making me look good.
Once again, thanks.
Don Carmody,
Producer.
