Tierney eyes Bon Cop sequel

A sequel to Bon Cop, Bad Cop is ‘stupidly inevitable’ given its runaway success and could go forward if cast and crew can find the time, according to producer Kevin Tierney.

‘We all have incredibly busy schedules. Patrick Huard is in the middle of several projects, as am I,’ he says. ‘We’d have to spend a lot of time on it, and we are all extremely busy at this point.’

Tierney notes that the initial pitch to Telefilm Canada envisioned Bon Cop, Bad Cop – now the domestic box office’s highest-grossing homegrown movie ever – as the first film in a trilogy. It stars Huard and Colm Feore as mismatched cops from opposite sides of the Ontario/Quebec border and has grossed more than $12 million at the box office.

‘We had to convince them we had the most commercial project ever, so that’s the way we talked about it,’ Tierney says. ‘We had no idea that it would take off as it has. It’s been a pleasant surprise.’
