Video Services Corp (VSC) has acquired the U.S. and Canadian rights across all platforms to Brett and Jason Butler’s second feature film, First Round Down.
The deal for the film, which is scheduled for release in mid-2016, was negotiated between VSC’s Jonathan Gross and Marina Cordoni Entertainment’s Marina Cordoni.
Written and directed by the Butler brothers and produced alongside Cordoni, the picture stars Dylan Bruce (Orphan Black), Rachel Wilson (Republic of Doyle), Rob Ramsay (Patch Town), Peter MacNeill (A History of Violence) and Kristian Bruun (Orphan Black).
Telling the story of former hitman and junior hockey star Tim Tucker, First Round Down picks up with Tucker returning home to look after his brother after a decade away. Looking to distance himself from his criminal past, Tucker’s shot at turning things around is jeopardized by his best friend and former girlfriend. First Round Down has received financial support from Telefilm Canada and provincial tax credits, with production currently underway in Toronto and Hamilton.
The Butler brothers’ previous movie credits include 2013’s Mourning Has Broken.
