Super Channel has announced the season two return of Forgive Me, set to premiere on Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. on the pay channel.

As with the first, the second season of Forgive Me includes 12 Nova Scotia-shot episodes produced by Doug Pettigrew and Thom Fitzgerald of Halifax-based prodco Emotion Pictures. Fitzgerald is also the creator and director of the series. While it was announced in July 2014 the series had earlier received development financing for a second season, its official return to the Super Channel airwaves was revealed late last week.

Whereas the first season was set almost exclusively within the confession booth of a Catholic priest (played by Mike McLeod), the second places the focus more on the life of the priest beyond the booth. Starting earlier this year in April, production was completed within five weeks.

The show’s first season won three ACTRA Awards, with McLeod winning Outstanding Male Actor in a Leading Role in a drama series, Jane Alexander nabbing Outstanding Performance – Female, and John Dunsworth winning Outstanding Performance – Male.

Forgive Me also received five Canadian Screen Awards nominations for Best Writing in a Dramatic Series for Thom Fitzgerald, Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Mike McLeod, Best Supporting Actor for Hugh Thompson, Best Supporting Actress for Jane Alexander, and Best Performance in a Guest Role for Brenda Fricker.

Emotion Pictures produces the show in association with Super Channel, with the participation of the CMF.
