Orphan Black season 4 shoot underway

Additions to the behind-the-scenes talent for the fourth season include writer Semi Chellas, who served as a consultant, and two new directors.

Production is underway in Toronto on the fourth season of Temple Street Productions’ Orphan Black, with several new faces in front and behind the camera.

Emmy-winning Canadian writer Semi Chellas (Mad Men) served as a consultant for the early part of the season. Other writers on the team for season four include Russ Cochrane, Alex Levine, Aubrey Nealon, Kate Melville, Chris Roberts and Niko Troubetzkoy. The writing team is lead by Orphan Black co-creator Graeme Manson.

Joining the Orphan Black as directors for season four is Peter Stebbings and David Wellington. Stebbings previously directed an episode of Temple Street Productions’ sci-fi series Killjoys, as well as episodes of Saving Hope and The Listener. On the film side, he directed the 2013 feature Empire of Dirt, as well as the 2014 short Parachute. David Wellington’s previous TV directing credits include Saving Hope, Rookie Blue and Queer as Folk.

Joel Thomas Hynes (Republic of Doyle) has been added to the cast of Orphan Black for season four as a computer hacker named Dizzy.

Production on season four, which will include 10 episodes, will continue until March 2016. Orphan Black is being shot on location and in studio in Toronto, and is set to bow on Bell Media’s Space channel in spring 2016. Season three of Orphan Black averaged 282,000 viewers each week, according to Numeris data provided by Bell Media. The series received a greenlight for season four this May.

Orphan Black is executive produced by Ivan Schneeberg, David Fortier, John Fawcett and Manson. Fawcett and Manson co-created the series, with Manson serving as writer and Fawcett directing.
