Boys shout out to Borat, Littlest Hobo

Trailer Park Boys The Movie took in nearly $4 million at the box office last year via Alliance Atlantis, and is set to hit DVD shelves Feb. 20. The picture missed out on all three of its Genie nominations on Tuesday night, but Ricky (Rob Wells), Julian (John Paul Tremblay) and Bubbles (Mike Smith) expect the DVD will score points with fans.

The trashy trio talks about the release, their dream jobs, and what a certain Alberta cable boss recently said about their show in the pages of Playback.

Why should fans get the DVD?

Ricky: It’s just a really good thing to watch when you’re drinking and smoking different types of things.

Julian: There’s lots of extra scenes and special features… all kinds of that crap.

Did the movie change the way you shoot the series?

Ricky: Not a whole lot. The movie was shot on film so it was a lot bigger cameras.

Bubbles: Yeah, the fellas just came with the fancy cameras and followed us around… I never know when they’re around… Julian signs the contract and he tells them they can come whenever they want.

What’s your favorite TV show?

Ricky: Probably Da Ali G Show… I’m surprised he wasn’t killed making Borat.

Julian: I don’t watch much TV actually… I’m more of a movie person. Especially in jail. You watch a lot of movies in jail.

Bubbles: I like The Littlest Hobo and The Beachcombers.

The full interview will appear in the next issue of Playback, available online Feb. 16.
