Pirate Master sails to strong start

Pirate Master‘s premiere on CTV recorded 1.04 million viewers in its 8 p.m. timeslot last Thursday. The Mark Burnett reality show beat Global’s Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? , which drew 791,000, by 32%. About 60% of Pirate Master‘s viewers were in the key 18-49 demographic.

It was a strong start, but the show didn’t reach as high as So You Think You Can Dance, which delivered 1.15 million for CTV at 9 p.m. against Global’s From the Ground Up, which got 366,000. At 10 p.m., CTV’s CSI got 947,000 against Global’s Shark, which attracted 734,000.

Pirate Master was the latest U.S. series to join CTV’s Broadband Network, along with On the Lot. The net is making Pirate Master eps available at midnight every Thursday, after they hit the air. Past eps of On the Lot are also included as part of CTV’s broadband catch-up viewing strategy.
