The CBC today officially launched CBC Aboriginal to coincide with National Aboriginal Day. The site ties together the Ceeb’s regional and national TV, radio and news coverage of aboriginal issues. Content includes video and audio, an electronic newsletter, arts and culture insights, personality profiles, and an online polling feature.
CBC Television exec director of network programming Kirstine Layfield says the initiative aims to meet demands from Canadians for diversity in programming and provide a connection with the ‘aboriginal reality in Canada.’ She says the site is also intended to serve as a resource tool for communities, schools, business and industry.
