Paramount+ renews SkyMed for a third season

Season three of the high-flying medical drama goes to camera later this month in Manitoba and Ontario.

Paramount+ has ordered a third season of Toronto-based Piazza Entertainment’s medical drama SkyMed.

Production on the 9 x 60-minute season kicks off March 25 in Manitoba and Ontario, according to a news release.

SkyMed is produced in association with CBC and CBS Studios, with the latest season to premiere on Paramount+ in the U.S. and on CBC in Canada.

The series is created by Julie Puckrin, who serves as executive producer along with Gillian Hormel and Vanessa Piazza. From Manitoba, Rhonda Baker and Carrie Wilkins serve as producers.

SkyMed is distributed internationally by Paramount Global Content Distribution, excluding Canada.

The series follows young medics and pilots who fly air ambulances across the remote skies of Northern Canada.

Aaron Ashmore (Ginny & Georgia) has been promoted to series regular, joining returning cast members Natasha Calis (Nurses), Morgan Holmstrom (Outlander), Praneet Akilla (Nancy Drew), Mercedes Morris (Ghosts), Thomas Elms (The Boys In The Boat), Kheon Clarke (Riverdale) and Sydney Kuhne (Ginny & Georgia).

Anthony Grant (Star Trek: Discovery) and Nicola Correia-Damude (Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent) join the cast for the third season.
