Radio-Canada has appointed Martin Bonenfant as the pubcaster’s executive director, productions.
Bonenfant (pictured) had been in the role on an interim basis for several months since the departure of François Messier, formerly Radio-Canada’s executive director, production and sports. Bonenfant’s appointment to the permanent position was announced on April 30. He reports to Radio-Canada EVP Dany Meloul.
As the production department’s executive director, Bonenfant spearheads the technical operations across the organization’s news, audio, culture, variety, society, sports and communications content creation. He also defines the path for developing the skills of technical staff, managing production resources and technical advancements within their operational scope, a Radio-Canada spokesperson told Playback Daily.
Bonenfant began at Radio-Canada 27 years ago as a production editor in its news department. Following that, Bonenfant moved to a number of technical and managerial positions. In 2014 he was named senior director, news productions.
