Knowledge Network has appointed David Van Poppel as its senior manager of primetime programming and acquisitions.
Van Poppel assumed the role at the B.C. pubcaster on Feb. 10, following the retirement of Lawrence Tapley.
Based in Vancouver, he is responsible for strategic sourcing, acquisition and scheduling of premium Canadian and global content for adult audiences on Knowledge Network’s broadcast channel and streaming service, according to a release.
Prior to joining Knowledge Network, Van Poppel was Spafax Canada’s in-flight entertainment content manager, where he was the lead television programmer for Lufthansa Group and the lead programmer for Air Canada’s Canadian film and television, brand and partner channels.
“David’s extensive programming experience and relationships with Canadian and global distributors, producers and independent filmmakers will enable us to build on our success with audiences in B.C. and across Canada,” said Michelle van Beusekom, Knowledge Network president and CEO, in a statement.
