OUTtv, TVNZ co-commission drag game show

Vancouver-based LGBTQ+ streaming service OUTtv has partnered with New Zealand’s TVNZ to co-commission the new drag-themed game show Winner Winner Chicken Dinner.

Produced by Warner Bros. International Television Production New Zealand, the format is fronted by leading Kiwi drag queens Kita Mean and Anita Wigl’it (pictured), who in each episode invite three unsuspecting members of the general public into their living room to go up against each other in a series of “outrageous, chicken-themed” games.

At the end of each episode, a “Loser Loser Chicken Snoozer” is banished to “the coop,” while the other two competitors are invited to share a winner’s chicken dinner together. However, all three guests will take home matching prizes for their efforts, along with the invaluable gift of new friendships.

“We have a growing audience in New Zealand, and it’s exciting to have both a new place for them to find our incredible, queer content, but also for us to double down on our commitment to the territory with a new commission,” said OUTtv COO Philip Webb in a statement.

Other international commissions recently announced by OUTtv include Get Hooked (7 x 30 minutes), in which members of the queer, disabled, Black and Indigenous communities use fishing to support their mental health, and Stripped Down (6 x 30 minutes), which follows the lives of dancers at a gay strip club in Florida.

In addition to the co-commission, OUTtv has expanded its reach in New Zealand, launching on Prime Video in the region as an add-on subscription.

Earlier this month, OUTtv co-commissioned season seven of the reality competition series Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star with BBC.
