Brooklyn, N.Y.-based sales company Visit Films has acquired international sales rights, excluding Canada, for Ann Marie Fleming’s Can I Get a Witness?
Written and directed by the Vancouver-based filmmaker, Can I Get a Witness? is set in a future where all the world’s problems have been fixed, but with the catch that all adults have to die at 50, with teenage artists documenting the process. The film follows one teenager’s first day on the job.
Shot in Powell, B.C., the film stars Keira Jang (pictured) in her feature debut as well as Sandra Oh (Killing Eve) and Joel Oulette (Trickster).
The film is produced by Fleming via her company AMF Productions, Raymond Massey (Iron Road) and Ruth Vincent (Ed, Edd and Eddy), and executive produced by Haydn Wazelle (Hector and the Search for Happiness) and Oh. It had its world premiere earlier this year at the Toronto International Film Festival. Mongrel Media will distribute within Canada.
“[Visit Films] have a keen understanding of the changing ecosystem of film distribution and how the indie can thrive in it,” said Fleming in a statement. “I feel like we are real partners in how Can I Get A Witness? will find its way in the world.”
