Banijay Entertainment has acquired the global format rights to Atypical Critics, a new series from Montreal-based Pixcom.
The 10 x 30-minute series, which will air on AMI-télé in winter 2025, features autistic food critics assessing renowned chefs and their three-course meals.
François-Étienne Parent, Pixcom’s VP of content, said the series “thrives on the dynamic interplay between acclaimed chefs and our autistic critics, where diverse perspectives meet culinary mastery,” in a statement, adding that it “challenges preconceived notions, fostering a better understanding of neurodiversity.”
Helen Greatorex, Banijay Entertainment’s head of format acquisitions, added: “We believe this show has the potential to entertain audiences in multiple markets and spark meaningful conversations about neurodiverse perspectives.”
Pixcom produces MasterChef Quebec, the second Canadian localization of the Banijay-owned format. Its second season debuted on TVA last month.
In April 2023, Banijay struck a deal for international distribution rights to the format of Montreal-based Attraction’s dating series Love is a Highway.
