Epic Story Media appoints Steve Couture as co-CEO

Toronto-based Epic Story Media has appointed Steve Couture (pictured) as co-CEO, effective immediately.

Couture will work alongside founder, president and CEO Ken Faier while remaining CEO of sister company Epic Storyworlds, which develops, produces and operates a catalogue of children’s content such as animated series, video games and toys. Couture will also continue to be based in Quebec City.

According to a release, Couture and Faier will aim to strengthen collaboration between the Anglophone and Francophone sectors of Canada, particularly in the field of children’s entertainment and its multi-platform strategy for its IP.

In a statement, Couture cited the launch of the companies’ Roblox game development studio, Freeground, and the 2D animation studio Loomi Animation as evidence of strong collaboration between the sister companies in years past.

“This has been and will continue to be a true collaboration – two companies working together to be a stronger and more agile force,” he said.

Added Faier: “Steve’s vision and leadership has been crucial to our growth, and his appointment comes at a key moment in our journey to bring epic content and experiences to fans around the world. Steve has always had innovation in his DNA and throughout his career.”

Faier also owns Vancouver’s Epic Story Interactive, a mobile game development company.

Earlier this year, Epic Story partnered with U.S. toy company Jakks Pacific on a new horse-themed entertainment IP called Wild Manes.
