The National Screen Institute celebrated the 20th anniversary of the program at the West End Cultural Centre in Winnipeg.

The National Screen Institute (NSI) was joined by a group of alumnus and industry stakeholders to celebrate the 20th anniversary of of the CBC New Indigenous Voices program.

Held at the West End Cultural Centre in Winnipeg on Sept. 10, the event opened with a prayer from Elder Colin Mousseau and remarks from NSI executive director Christine Kleckner.

Among the attendees were board member and alum Melanie Nepinak Hadley, who emceed the event; program creator Lisa Meeches and co-creator Vanessa Loewen; Glen Simard, Manitoba’s minister of sport, culture, heritage and tourism; Melanie Verhaeghe, managing editor at CBC Manitoba; and Marileen Bartlett, executive director of the Centre for Aboriginal Human Resource Development.
