Roku adds accessible streaming service AMI+

AMI's accessibility-focused streaming service is now available on Roku with French-language support rolling out in the coming months.

Accessible Media Inc’s (AMI) ad-supported streaming service AMI+ is now available through streaming distributor Roku.

AMI announced Tuesday (Aug. 20) that the app is now available on the Roku platform and devices in Canada.

AMI’s series, podcasts and documentaries are available in English, French and for those with visual impairments. However, currently the Roku version of AMI+ only offers content in English, with French-language support rolling out in the coming months.

AMI+ launched in October 2023 on Apple, Android and Windows devices. Programs available to stream include By Hook or By Cook (pictured), Dish with Mary and Mind Your Own Business.

David Errington, president and CEO of AMI, said in a statement expanding to Roku is the next step in the not-for-profit company’s mission to spread the news about AMI and “entertain, inform and empower Canadians with disabilities through the offering of relevant original content.”
