New Metric Media inks first-look deal with Sasha Leigh Henry

The award-winning creator will develop and produce projects for film, television and theatre for the prodco.

Toronto-based prodco New Metric Media has inked a multi-year first-look deal with writer, director and producer Sasha Leigh Henry to produce original projects across multiple mediums, including television, film and theatre.

New Metric Media previously partnered with Henry on the Crave original series Bria Mack Gets A Life, which won Best Comedy Series at this year’s Canadian Screen Awards (CSA). The series garnered five CSA nods, including Best Writing, Comedy.

“We’re delighted to expand on our collaboration with Sasha, an exceptionally talented and visionary creator,” said Mark Montefiore, founder and CEO of New Metric Media, in a statement. “Supporting unique and gifted voices like Sasha’s is at the core of our mission, and we’re excited to partner with her in bringing more compelling stories to life.”

“Working with New Metric to bring Bria Mack to life was an incredibly bonding experience,” said Henry. “As creative collaborators, I think we are a good match, and share a similar appetite for experimenting and shaking things up with the kind of comedic stories we want to tell and the way we put them out into the world. I’m elated to be continuing our partnership. If Bria Mack Gets A Life was just the beginning, I can only imagine what comes next.”

This announcement comes on the heels of Crave commissioning another Henry project as part of its 2024-25 lineup, the limited series Bad Trip, produced by Canada’s Blink49 Studios, Real Friends Media and The Donaldson Company and Australia’s Dreamchaser Entertainment.

Henry was selected as Playback‘s 10 to Watch in 2022 and was recently recognized by The Hollywood Reporter as a rising Canadian talent to watch.
