Pinewood Toronto Studios has named Sarah Farrell as its new general manager.
Farrell joined Pinewood as legal counsel in 2013, growing in her remit to eventually oversee legal, HR and client relations. A member of the City of Toronto’s Film, Television and Digital Media Board, Farrell has spent her career working with media and entertainment companies, such as the Soulpepper Theatre Company, The Globe and Mail and others.
She succeeds former general manager Geoff Grant, who departed Pinewood last year after serving in the role for more than five years, following nearly two decades at Bell Media.
“Sarah is a great asset to the Pinewood Group and we are delighted that she has taken the reins as general manager,” said David Conway, CEO of the Pinewood Group, in a statement. “She is an extremely experienced and knowledgeable professional who understands Pinewood Toronto and the wider film and TV industry well.”
Pinewood Toronto is made up of 16 purpose-built sound stages, including the 46,000-square-foot Mega Stage and several support spaces. Recent productions include Star Trek: Discovery, Code 8: Part II, FUBAR and Star Trek: Section 31. The studio inked a long-term lease with Amazon MGM Studios earlier this year.
