Sphere Media adapting Four Weddings for Quebec market

La guerre des mariés is based on the reality format from ITV Studios and is set to premiere on Bell Media's Canal Vie in fall.

Sphere Media is adapting the British reality series Four Weddings for the Quebec market, with the show set to premiere on Bell Media’s Canal Vie in fall.

The series, originally created by ITV Studios, features four competing brides and grooms in each episode as they judge the weddings of other couples based on certain criteria with the goal of winning a luxury honeymoon.

La guerre des mariés (10 x 60 minutes) is produced by Sphere Media, in association with Bell Media. Anicée Ouellet is attached to direct. Alexandre Côté is a producer, while Marie-Pier Gaudreault is an executive producer.

Production on the show is set to begin in May, with filming taking place in and around Montreal. Canal Vie put out a casting announcement on Wednesday (March 20) for local brides and grooms.

A spokesperson for Sphere told Playback Daily that the prodco “loved the format” and pitched it to Bell Media, which came on board last year.

The original Four Weddings format was created by ITV Studios for Sky Living and premiered in 2009. It has been adapted in several markets, including for English-speaking Canada.
