R ichard Dubé, the creator and co-writer of the hit TVA legal drama series Indéfendable, has died at 66.
The series’ production company Pixcom announced Sunday (Jan. 7) that Dubé died suddenly on Saturday (Jan. 6).
Nicola Merola, Pixcom’s president and executive producer, and Charles Lafortune, SVP of creative content, remembered Dubé as a “unifying, daring and creative” person who “always managed to surprise us,” in a statement paying tribute to Dubé. They added that he had a more than 40-year career as a criminal lawyer, in which he put “forward the truth, both in court and on television.”
Dubé was also registered as a defense lawyer at the International Criminal Court, and also acted as duty counsel at the court, according to Pixcom.
The daily drama Indéfendable, which was renewed by TVA for a third season last month, was among shows that regularly pulled in more than one million viewers. The show is co-written and produced by Dubé’s wife, Izabel Chevrier.
