The Société de Développement des Entreprises Culturelles (SODEC) has announced a new program for Quebec-based companies focused on the production of digital immersive experiences.
The program, created in consultation with the Quebec digital sector, aims to support prodcos intent on developing and producing original digital experiential content for the local market, according to a news release.
The assistance will be provided in the form of a grant — covering up to 75% of eligible expenses and a maximum amount of $500,000 per business — and support the different stages of production, including development, design, prototyping, marketing and distribution.
The program is aimed at companies which create content intended for non-traditional distribution channels and have a catalogue of productions in virtual, augmented and mixed reality; in situ experiences, installations, exhibitions and immersive and/or interactive scenographies; and interactive products and experiences.
Applicant companies must present a business strategy for the creation and exploitation of a catalogue of Quebec cultural works, where the company owns the IP. Business strategies intended for markets based outside of Quebec are not eligible for the program, and should instead submit to SODEC’s export assistance program, said the release.
The application process opens on Oct. 10 and ends on Nov. 17.
