SODEC selects 22 projects for development support

The chosen projects include six narrative features and 10 shorts, as well as six documentaries.

The Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC) has selected 22 projects for its development support program for emerging creators.

The program supports Quebec prodcos developing projects with up-and-coming talent. The projects also receive screenwriting mentoring and workshops from industry professionals.

Projects include six narrative feature films and 10 shorts, as well as six feature, medium and short documentaries. The projects were selected from 99 eligible submissions.

The six narrative features include the dramas Aphélie (La Créative Films) from screenwriter Virginie Nolin, Enheduanna (Tobo Média) from Marya Zarif, L’addition (Club Vidéo) from Romain Dumont, Nouveau soleil (Élement) from Samuel Matteau, and Patof Blou (Vital Productions) from Sandrine Béchade and Julie Hétu.

Also among the features is the dramedy Lena, août, c’est juste pour toi (Embuscade Films) from Marie-Ève Juste.

Short film projects include the romantic comedy Balle orange (La 115e) from screenwriter Louis St-Pierre, the dramas Dernière représentation (Lamouche Incorporée) from Frank Tremblay, Koden’n (L’Unité Centrale) from Daniel Cherubin, and writer Pierre-Luc Racine’s La serre (Chasseurs Films), as well as the comedy Le mystère de l’abbé Metz (Productions Major) from Félix Brouillet.

Rounding out the list of shorts are the dramedies Monsieur White (Objectif 9) from Phania Jean-Baptiste, and Pervitine (Embuscade Films) from Sylvie-Anne Ménard, and the dramas Nuit blanche (Coop Vidéo de Montréal) from Aucéane Roux, The Pregnancy Test (Productions Compass) from Holly Brace-Lavoie, and Verglas (Némésis Films) from Philippe Lefebvre.

The six doc projects include Celle qui m’entend (Pourquoi Productions) from Myriam Guimond, Chérie ma pitoune (Fiz Studio) from Élise Cyr-Labelle, and Corps-à-corps (Némésis Films) from Romane Garant Chartrand.

La maison des rebelles (Parabola films) from Mathilde Capone, Que notre voix l’emporte (Studio Niloc) from Marianne Khayat, and Temporaires (Club Vidéo) from Ginger Le Pêcheur round out the list.
