Super Channel’s chief content officer Jackie Pardy (pictured right) will retire at the end of the year, with the broadcaster’s communications head Kimberley Ball (pictured left) named as her successor.
Super Channel announced Tuesday (Sept. 5) that Pardy will step down on Dec. 29, but will stay on for six months as a part-time consultant to assist Ball’s transition into the role.
A three-decade-plus veteran of the Canadian media industry, Pardy was hired at Super Channel in 2019 as director of programming, and was elevated to CCO later that same year, overseeing the programming strategy for the channels Fuse, Heart & Home and Vault. The broadcaster formed partnerships with Canadian production companies Farpoint Films and Go Button Media for scripted and unscripted original programming during her tenure.
Her previous programming roles include director, network content, specialty and pay TV at Corus Entertainment, and director of programmer at Movie Central. Prior to joining Super Channel, Pardy was director of development at Women in Film & Television Toronto, where she oversaw the development and management of the organization’s strategic partnerships and sponsorships.
Ball will assume her role as CCO on Jan. 2, 2024. She will remain based in Toronto and continue to report to Super Channel president and CEO Don McDonald. In addition, Ball will continue to oversee the organization’s communications, media relations and industry outreach work, according to a news release.
Ball has been with Super Channel for more than a decade, joining in 2012 as publicity manager. She was named chief communications officer in 2021. She previously worked in marketing, publicity and promotion at Fox Incendo Television Distribution.
McDonald said Ball is “a well-respected industry veteran with a keen understanding of content and our business,” in a statement, adding that Pardy “has been a valued leader at Super Channel and integral to the company’s successful navigation of the constantly changing media landscape.”
Super Channel announced an internal restructuring in July, which saw Tanuka Roy promoted to chief operating officer amid a merging of the company’s revenue, marketing and creative services departments.
