Paramount+ has acquired the action-comedy series Twisted Metal in Canada.
The live-action adaptation of the PlayStation classic game premieres in Canada with all 10 x 30-minute episodes dropping Aug. 10. Paramount+ will be launching the series in other international territories to be announced at a later date.
The series (pictured) comes from Sony Pictures Television (SPT), based on an original take by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland), and is written by Michael Jonathan Smith (Cobra Kai). It is produced by SPT, PlayStation Productions, and Universal Television, and is distributed globally by SPT.
Twisted Metal stars Anthony Mackie (The Falcon and The Winter Soldier), Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine Nine), Canadian Will Arnett (Arrested Development) and Thomas Haden Church (No Way Home). Series guest stars include Canadian Neve Campbell (Scream), Richard Cabral (Mayans M.C.), Mike Mitchell (The Tomorrow War), Tahj Vaughans (The Purge), and Lou Beatty Jr. (Finding Normal).
Hollywood Suite
Hollywood Suite will be the exclusive Canadian broadcast home for the four Max Original one-hour documentary specials 100 Years of Warner Bros.
Hollywood Suite’s David Kines negotiated the deal with Warner Bros. Canada.
The specials explore the impact of Warner Bros. on art, commerce and culture, telling the story of the fabled entertainment studio on its 100th anniversary.
Narrated by Morgan Freeman and directed by Academy Award- and Emmy-nominated filmmaker Leslie Iwerks (The Imagineering Story), 100 Years of Warner Bros. provides a behind-the-scenes look at the history of the iconic Hollywood studio, from the underdog origins of the company to its transformation into a global entertainment powerhouse. All four specials will be available on Hollywood Suite On Demand on Aug. 1.
Hollywood Suite is available to over 10 million households across Canada, exclusively through Canadian television service providers and Prime Video Channels.
CBC
Cricket is coming to the CBC. Global T20 Canada and CBC have announced that CBC Sports will be the exclusive Canadian broadcast and streaming home of the third edition of Global T20 Canada, North America’s first professional Twenty20 cricket league.
CBC Sports will stream all 25 league matches on CBC Gem, cbcsports.ca and the CBC Sports App. The championship final on Sunday, Aug. 6, will be broadcast live on CBC and CBC Gem.
Sanctioned by the International Cricket Council, the world governing body of cricket, Global T20 Canada consists of six city-based franchises – Toronto Nationals, Montreal Tigers, Vancouver Knights and Brampton Wolves, Mississauga (ON) Panthers and Surrey (B.C.) Jaguars – playing in a centralized venue. The franchises feature a mix of international stars from cricket hotbed – India, England, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Caribbean, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh – as well as top home-grown talent playing for the Canadian men’s national team.
The tournament takes place at TD Cricket Arena in Brampton, Ont., and runs until Sunday, Aug. 6.
