Deals: Prairie Pants Distribution, Nemesis Films, Gusto

Corner Gas heads to the U.K. with a new FAST channel, Pascal Plante's Red Rooms sells internationally, plus more.

Prairie Pants Distribution has announced that Canadian sitcom Corner Gas and Corner Gas: The Movie are available via a FAST (free ad-supported television) channel in the U.K. with Samsung TV Plus.

All 107 episodes of the show, along with the movie, were made available on Samsung TV Plus in the U.K. on July 12 on the Comedy Hub channel, according to a news release.

Corner Gas FAST channel was previously launched in the U.S. on Freevee last year.

Nemesis Films

Pascal Plante’s French-language feature Red Rooms has been acquired by Paris-based ESC Distribution for France, Switzerland, and Belgium. The deal was brokered by former sales agent Sphere Films International before it shuttered operations in June.

Red Rooms is produced by Montreal’s Nemesis Films and recently had its world premiere at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival earlier this month, with Entract Films handling distribution in Canada. International sales for the film are now represented by the newly launched sales agency from H264.

Gusto

International food channel Gusto TV is expanding its reach by joining the Fubo platform in Canada and launching in Malaysia through the freemium streaming service sooka.

Under the deal with Fubo, Gusto TV’s titles will join the sports-based streamer’s growing portfolio of lifestyle content, and will be part of its premium subscription package, which offers all Fubo channels, including exclusive content like the Premier League, said a news release.

The deal with sooka, which is owned by Malaysian satellite TV provider Astro, will give users of that service access to Gusto TV’s lineup of titles as one of the live channels available through the streamer.

ATN

Asian Television Network (ATN) has acquired and renewed the exclusive Canadian broadcast rights for Cricket West Indies for two more years.

All games will air live on the channels CBN and ATN Cricket Plus. Both channels are available nationally on various cable and satellite platforms across Canada. The games covered include India kicking off its 2023-2025 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle in July and August, as well as tours from England, South Africa and Bangladesh.

In addition to the Cricket West Indies rights, ATN also holds the exclusive rights for New Zealand Cricket for the next season and will feature tours of Bangladesh, South Africa and Australia.
