Pixcom promotes five to management team

The Montreal-based prodco has also announced the sale of dramedy Audrey est revenue to the Middle East.

M ontreal prodco Pixcom has expanded its management team, promoting five to VP roles within the company, including on its content team.

François-Étienne Parent has been elevated to VP creation and content. Parent most recently served as director of development for Pixcom’s francophone content, and worked in development at the prodco Trio Orange prior to joining Pixcom in 2015.

Meanwhile, Véronique Voyer has been promoted to VP legal and business affairs; Andrée-Anne Quimper to VP corporate finance and administration; Marie-Ève Paré to VP production accounting and financing; and Pascale Bilodeau to VP post-production operations, equipment and IT.

The promotions were announced by Pixcom’s Nicola Merola, president and executive producer, and Charles Lafortune, SVP content creative affairs and executive producer, on Monday (June 26) as part of a company update.

“Their dedication, passion and creativity have strengthened Pixcom and position us for even further company growth,” said Merola and Lafortune in a joint statement.

The company also announced that distributor Beta Film has secured a licensing deal for the dramedy Audrey est revenue (Audrey’s Back) to Dubai TV. The linear channel is available in several Middle Eastern territories, including Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Morocco, Yemen and Oman.

The 10 x 30-minute series, which has been feted at Canneseries and the Banff World Media Festival’s Rockie Awards, has previously sold to RAI in Italy and Canal+ in France. It follows the story of a woman who wakes up after a 16-year coma.

Pixcom’s daily legal drama Indéfendable (Indefensible) also leads the nominations this year for the 38th prix Gémeaux, earning a total 14 nods. The prodco earned 28 nominations altogether, including a special award for Audrey est revenue, which recognizes series that have had success abroad. Other nominated Pixcom series are Alertes, Au suivant, Quépop, Face au diable de la Côte-Nord, Dans ma tête: le retour, La faille and Contre-offre.
