Blue Ant International has sold a multitude of history-focused titles to platforms and broadcasters across Central and Eastern Europe, including Canadian-produced series and docs.
The sales from Blue Ant Media’s U.K.-based distribution arm were announced Tuesday (June 20), on the second day of European market NATPE Budapest, which runs through Thursday (June 22).
Key international titles sold include Greatest Discoveries With Dan Snow (3 x 60 minutes; pictured), produced by U.K.-based History Hit, and the copro Citizens At War: A Year In Ukraine (6 x 60 minutes; GTV, Tilt, Film.UA).
Polish broadcaster Canal+ Polska has acquired a number of titles from Blue Ant’s Toronto-based subsidiary Saloon Media, including History by the Numbers (20 x 60 minutes), Mysteries from Above (20 x 60 minutes), and Searching for Secrets (6 x 60 minutes), which is coproduced with U.K. prodco Bigger Bang.
Searching for Secrets and History by the Numbers have also been sold in Romania to telecom RCS & RDS, while Mysteries from Above was acquired by Lithuanian broadcaster LRT and Czech Republic broadcaster FTV Prima for the documentary channel Prima ZOOM.
Other Canadian-produced titles acquired for Prima ZOOM include The Real Hunt For Red October (2 x 60 minutes), produced by Muse Entertainment, and 68-minute doc Last Day Of The Dinosaurs, produced by Montreal’s Handel Productions and U.K.-based Pioneer Productions.
Romania’s Prime TV has also picked up 60-minute doc The Emperor’s Lost Harbour from Toronto prodco PTV Productions.
Rounding out the Cancon sales is AMC Networks International CNE, which has picked up Saloon Media’s 90-minute documentary 9/11 Kids for Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
More than 200 hours of content were sold overall, with international content also acquired by Poland’s Telewizja Polsat and TV Spektrum, Romania’s TVR, and Estonia Public Broadcasting ERR.
