Blue Ant Media has commissioned a new series from home renovation expert Mike Holmes as part of the Canadian originals slate for its domestic linear specialty and global FAST channels.
The Toronto-headquartered media company announced at the Banff World Media Festival on Monday (June 12) that it has ordered two new series and renewed three as part of its Canadian originals lineup for 2024.
Holmes on Homes: Building a Legacy (6 x 60 minutes) is produced by the Holmes Group and features Holmes, along with his son Michael Holmes and daughter Sherry Holmes (pictured), as they continue his legacy of “making it right” by fixing home renovations and builds that have gone wrong.
The series will have its world broadcast premiere on Canadian specialty channel Cottage Life in spring 2024 and be available to U.S. audiences on FAST channel Homeful.
Blue Ant has also ordered a 10 x 60-minute first season of investigative series A Secret to Die For, produced by Blue Ant Studios, which explores how a secret life may lead to fatal consequences. The company greenlit an initial two episodes for the series earlier this year. It will make its world broadcast premiere on linear channel T+E in Canada in fall 2024, and land on FAST channel Total Crime in the U.S. at a later date.
U.K.-based distribution arm Blue Ant International is handling global presales and licensing for both new titles.
Blue Ant Media has also renewed three titles across its linear specialty and FAST channels.
Among the renewals are Cottage Life’s Mysteries from Above (Saloon Media; 8 x 60 minutes) for season three in spring 2024, and T+E and FAST channel HauntTV’s Haunted Hospitals (Sphere Media; 8 x 60 minutes) for spring 2024 on T+E in Canada and 2024 in the U.S., the U.K., and Australia on HauntTV. Blue Ant International is handling global presales and licensing for Mysteries from Above and season five of Haunted Hospitals.
Rounding out the trio is Intervention Canada (Open Door Co., Insight Productions), which has been renewed for season six by Blue Ant Media and A+E Networks, and will premiere on Canadian linear channel Makeful in winter 2024.
Carlyn Staudt, head of commissioning, global media, Blue Ant Media, said the slate delivers on the company’s “commitment to commission universally relevant and compelling original series for our Canadian speciality TV and global free streaming channels,” in a statement.
“Banff is the perfect backdrop to announce these new projects, as we take great pride in working with our production partners to bring premium content to global audiences,” she continued.
