Deals: Attraction Distribution, Blue Ant, levelFILM

Nish Media's Pour toi Flora sells in Canada and France, Blue Ant Media secures deals for content and FAST channels, plus more.

Montreal-based Attraction Distribution has inked deals with CBC and France’s TV5 Monde for the sale of Nish Media’s mini-series Pour toi Flora (pictured).

The six-episode series, written and directed by Sonia Bonspille Boileau and produced by Jason Brennan, will be launched on CBC Gem in June and TV5 Monde will air it in all its territories, according to a press release.

Pour toi Flora is also available on Radio-Canada’s Ici.Tou.tv Extra and APTN lumi. The series tells parallel stories of children and survivors impacted by the trauma of residential schools in Quebec.

Pour toi Flora recently won two silver trophies at the 44th Telly Awards in New York City for Best Cultural Television Series and Best Dramatic Television Series. It is also a finalist for a Gémeaux Award for the “series with the most international exposure,” said the release. The winner of that award will be announced at the 38th Prix Gémeaux gala on Sept. 17.

Blue Ant Media

Blue Ant Media has brought its free, ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channels Homeful and Love Pets to U.S. platform Vizio WatchFree+ as it builds on its partnership with the California-based Vizio. Blue Ant previously launched FAST channels Love Nature, Haunt TV and Drag Race Universe on the platform.

Content on Homeful — which first launched in early 2022 — includes Mike Holmes’ library of original series and specials. Among them are seven seasons of Holmes on Homes; seasons one and two of Holmes Makes it Right and Holmes + Holmes; and Holmes on Homes special Lien on Me.

Programming on Love Pets, which launched earlier this year, includes seasons of Bondi Vet seasons one to three (44 x 30 minutes); Vet on the Hill seasons two and three (28 x 60 minutes); ER Vets (30 x 30 minutes); The Bizarre Pet Vets (6 x 60 minutes); and Hope For Wildlife (111 x 60 minutes + 26 x 30 minutes).

Blue Ant Media’s FAST channels, which also include Total Crime and HistoryTime, are also available on platforms such as Tubi, Amazon Freevee, The Roku Channel, Xumo, Samsung TV Plus and VIX.

Blue Ant International

Content from Blue Ant Media subsidiaries and White Pine Pictures are among the latest Latin American deals secured by distribution arm Blue Ant International.

Pay-TV service DirecTV Latin America and the streaming platform DGO (Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay and Mexico) have acquired Prince Andrew: Banished (1 x 90 minutes, Blue Ant Studios), which unpacks the Duke of York’s fall from grace from the British Royal Family, and Cheating Hitler (1 x 90/2 x 60 minutes, Saloon Media), which follows three Holocaust survivors as they journey back to their former hometowns, killing sites and hiding places.

Blue Ant also sealed a major deal with AMC Selekt 4K for several titles from its deep natural history catalogue, which will run across Mexico, South America and Central America. Titles include Arctic Secrets (8 x 60 minutes, White Pine Pictures), which examines the the region’s creatures as they migrate during the Arctic summer, and Wild Rockies (5 x 60 minutes, Blue Ant Studios), which gets viewers up close to the animals living in the Rocky Mountains.

Amazon’s Prime Video Canada has picked up Canadian documentary Drop the Needle, produced by Canterbury Crescent Filmworks. The doc is directed and co-written by Rob Freeman and follows the story of the 1990 Toronto record store Play De Record and its impact on the local music community. It is distributed by levelFILM and lands on the platform on Friday (June 2). Neil Acharya is a co-writer and producer, and Sandy Hunter is executive producer.
