9 Story Media Group CCO Angela C. Santomero exits

Santomero will continue to work with 9 Story in a "consulting capacity" while Wendy Harris moves up to SVP, head of creative affairs.

A ngela C. Santomero has left her role as chief creative officer at Toronto-based 9 Story Media Group after five years with the company to pursue her “first love” of creating content for kids.

The company announced on Tuesday (March 28) that Santomero (pictured left) will continue to work with 9 Story and its animation studio Brown Bag Films in an “ongoing consulting capacity.”

Santomero joined 9 Story in 2018 following its acquisition of children’s media company Out of the Blue Enterprises, which she co-founded in 2005. She is the creator and executive producer behind the Emmy award-winning preschool series Blue’s Clues & You! and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.

Wendy Harris (pictured right) has been named SVP, head of creative affairs in an expanded role at the company to oversee creative affairs at all locations. Harris formerly reported to Santomero as SVP, content and creative affairs, and will now report directly to Commisso. The development and production teams in New York, Toronto and Dublin will continue to report to Harris.

The SVP is a former Nickelodeon exec and executive producer of series including Blue’s Clues.

Vince Commisso, CEO and president of 9 Story Media Group, said Santomero and her team have been “instrumental” in helping series such as Rosie’s Rules, Karma’s World and Get Rolling with Otis “find their voice,” in a statement.

“She’s been an invaluable leader, creator, and contributor to 9 Story and her vision and passion have dramatically improved the creative quotient of the business,” said Commisso.

He added that Harris had been a “tremendous leader within our creative affairs team for the past five years,” noting that “she is a highly accomplished producer and creative executive, and I am confident she will continue to strategically grow our IP with her signature style of collaboration, creativity and vision.”
