Super Channel hires Tanuka Roy as chief revenue officer

Roy joins Super Channel on Jan. 11 and will help lead its digital platform expansion, including FAST channels.

Super Channel has hired former Bell Media exec Tanuka Roy (pictured) as chief revenue officer.

Effective Wednesday (Jan. 11), Roy will be tasked with “leading Super Channel’s deployment into new platforms and related revenue streams,” which includes an expansion into free, ad-supported TV (FAST) channels, according to a news release. She will also implement a co-operative marketing campaign to “develop and enhance” Super Channel’s relationships with BDU affiliates.

The position is based in Toronto and reports to president and CEO Don McDonald. The CRO role was previously held by Marlene Lone, who is currently on long-term leave, according to a spokesperson for Super Channel. Roy’s position is permanent.

Roy has more than a decade of experience in Canadian broadcasting. She was formerly associate director, OTT digital products at Bell Media, and previously worked at Astral Television Networks. She most recently held a consulting role with WildTV to aid the launch of their direct-to-consumer (DTC) app.

Her work at Bell Media included leading product development for Crave, and launching DTC versions of TSN and RDS.

McDonald said Roy has a “wealth of experience in digital product development” in a statement, adding that she will add “value and perspective” to Super Channel in its expansion to new digital platforms.
