Corus Studios unveils greenlights, renewals with pre-MIPCOM sales

New to the slate is Repossessed, produced by Sphere Media, a paranormal series for Corus Entertainment's History channel.

History channel has commissioned the unscripted paranormal series Repossessed (pictured), set to make its market debut at MIPCOM through Corus Studios.

The 8 x 60-minute series is produced by Sphere Media (formerly BGM), with Andrea Griffith, Corinna Lehr and Marlo Miazga serving as executive producers. The series is shot across North America as a trio – paranormal investigator Moe Sargi, psychic medium Leitreanna Terry-Brown, and researcher Marika Simón – examine haunted objects at the behest of their troubled owners.

Repossessed has already been acquired by Hulu for the U.S. as part of Corus Studios’ continued output deal with the streamer.

History has also renewed Thunderbird Entertainment unscripted division Great Pacific Media’s (GPM) factual series Deadman’s Curse for an 8 x 60-minute second season, while HGTV has ordered a second season of the prodco’s lifestyle series Styled (8 x 60 minutes). In addition, Food Network Canada has ordered a fourth season of The Big Bake (Nikki Ray Media Agency). All of the new seasons have been added to Corus Studios’ sales catalogue leading up to MIPCOM, according to a news release.

Corus Studios has also announced a raft of sales, including two new U.S. acquisitions. In addition to Repossessed, Hulu has acquired Sarah’s Mountain Escape (8 x 60 minutes; Insight Productions), while The CW has acquired additional seasons of Great Chocolate Showdown (8 x 30 minutes; Nikki Ray Media Agency), which will premiere its fourth season on Food Network Canada next year.

Pamela’s Garden of Eden (8 x 60 minutes; Fireworks Media Group) has been sold to multiple territories ahead of its Nov. 3 debut on HGTV Canada, including Australia (Foxtel), France (M6 Group), Italy (Sky Italia), the Netherlands (Talpa TV), Portugal (SIC), Poland (Kino Polska, and Israel (Talit).

Quebecor Content has also picked up the rights to Pamela’s Garden of Eden for its SVOD and linear platforms for French Canada, as well as season two of The Big Bake, Hoarder House Flippers (10 x 60 minutes; Anaïd Productions) and Farmhouse Facelift (10 x 60 minutes; Sonar Entertainment).

Sales in Europe and the Middle East include season three of The Big Bake and seasons one through three of Great Chocolate Showdown for the U.K.’s ITV; Styled and Deadman’s Curse to Germany’s Seven. One; Farmhouse Facelift seasons one and two, and Hoarder House Flippers to Portugal’s SIC for season one; and the second season of Project Bakeover (10 x 60 minutes; Entertainment One) and seasons one through four of Masters of Flip (42 x 60 minutes; Rhino Content) to the Netherlands’ Talpa TV.

Rounding out the sales, Thailand’s TrueVisions acquired seasons two and three of Big Food Bucket List (40 x 30 minutes; Lone Eagle Entertainment) and season three, set A of Fire Masters (10 x 60 minutes; Nikki Ray Media Agency); and Vietnam’s Box TV acquired season one of Deadman’s Curse.

The sales were brokered by Corus Studios’ Rita Carbone Fleury, worldwide sales lead; Leyla Formoso, who represents sales for Latin American and select European territories; and Pooja Nirmal Kant, who oversees sales in Asia and Central Eastern Europe.
