Seasoned production executive Lisa Broadfoot has been appointed VP of industry and business affairs at the Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA).

As part of the association’s senior leadership team, Broadfoot will “play a strategic role leading business affairs support for CMPA members across a range of areas including project development, financing, production planning, sales, and business growth,” according to a news release.

She joins the CMPA from Boat Rocker Media, where she oversaw production financing for its slate of kids and family, scripted, and animated productions, and negotiated production service agreements with clients such as Nickelodeon, Spin Master, Mattel, and Netflix. Her most recent position at Boat Rocker was senior VP, business affairs and production financing.

Broadfoot has over 20 years of experience in Canada’s television and film sector, working in a variety of roles spanning TV, documentary, feature film, live-action scripted drama, factual, and animated production. She’s also worked for Primitive Entertainment and the National Film Board of Canada, among others.

She’s been a CMPA member producer and sat on the organization’s Regulatory Committee and its Kids and Animation Committee. She is also a member of the Computer Animation Studios of Ontario and holds both a bachelor of arts degree and a master of arts degree in English literature from McGill University.

In a statement, CMPA president and CEO Reynolds Mastin praised Broadfoot’s “deep knowledge of Canada’s independent production sector” and her first-hand knowledge of “the hard work our members put in to get projects developed, financed, produced, and sold.”

Broadfoot said she looks “forward to working with the CMPA team on strategies to continue to advocate for the interests of Canadian independent producers, building on my strong relationships within the production community and other industry stakeholders.”
