Hot Sheet: The Orville: New Horizons lures in audiences

The sci-fi space adventure, which counts Maltese-Canadian producer Jon Cassar as an executive producer, was 26.21 times more in demand for the week of Aug. 1 to 7.

Hulu and Disney+ sci-fi comedy drama The Orville: New Horizons’ season three finale beamed high onto both the top 10 digital originals and overall TV demand lists.

Produced by 20th Television and Fuzzy Door, the space adventure came second on the digital list and fifth on the overall TV demand chart. The Orville: New Horizons — which stars Seth MacFarlane, Adrianne Palicki, and Scott Grimes, and includes Maltese-Canadian producer and filmmaker Jon Cassar as one of its executive producers — was 26.21 times more in demand for the week of Aug. 1 to 7, according to Parrot Analytics.

Meanwhile, Netflix’s Stranger Things (80.37) continues to lead both the lists. Toronto-shot Prime Video series The Boys (22.08) ranked third on the digital originals chart and No. 10 on the overall TV series list – a decrease in ratings from its No. 8 spot the previous week.

The remaining series on the top 5 digital demand include Hulu original series Only Murders in the Building at No. 4, which was 21.48 times more in-demand on Disney+ in Canada, followed by Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian (19.76).

The overall TV originals list includes AMC’s Better Call Saul (34.52) at No. 2; Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants (28.32) at No. 3; and AMC’s Breaking Bad (26.47) at No. 4.
