A mazon is heading back to the cottage this summer.
Streaming service Prime Video has renewed The Lake for a second season following the series premiere last month.
Produced by Toronto prodco Amaze, the series stars Jordan Gavaris (Orphan Black) and Julia Stiles (Hustlers) as step-siblings fighting over who gets to keep the family cottage. Madison Shamoun (black-ish) also stars.
Season two is now in production in Northern Ontario and is expected to wrap in September, with Julian Doucet returning as showrunner and executive producer.
Additional executive producers include Amaze’s Michael Souther and Teza Lawrence, Karen Troubetzkoy and Andrew DeAngelis. Jenn Engels is consulting producer, while Lisa Codrington, Winter Tekenos-Levy and Gorrman Lee are coproducers and writers on the series.
Season one premiered in more than 240 countries and territories on June 17. A spokesperson for Prime Video told Playback Daily that Amazon does not provide data on the performance of its titles.
The news marks the first time Prime Video has renewed one of its Canadian originals for an additional season. Among the original series to launch on the streaming are the revival of The Kids in the Hall and LOL: Last One Laughing Canada.
Christina Wayne, Amazon Studios’ head of Canadian originals, said the streamer is “thrilled to have audiences connect with the superbly written characters, brought to life by our amazing cast,” in a statement on the renewal.
