A d-supported platform Roku has commissioned a scripted comedy series from Boat Rocker Studios and Dakota Johnson’s banner TeaTime Pictures.
Slip is created by American actor and filmmaker Zoe Lister-Jones (How it Ends; pictured), who will star and direct all seven episodes of the series.
Set to begin production in Toronto next month, the series follows a 30-something woman who journeys through parallel universes to explore different relationships as she becomes restless in her marriage. It will be available to stream on The Roku Channel in the U.S. and Canada.
Boat Rocker will serve as the studio for Slip, with Johnson and TeaTime Pictures partners Ro Donnelly and Katie O’Connell serving as executive producers. Slip marks TeaTime’s first TV series to go into production.
Additional executive producers are Boat Rocker co-executive chairmen Ivan Schneeberg and David Fortier, as well as Nick Nantell.
“Slip is a wonderfully original series from the brilliant creative mind of Zoe Lister-Jones and we couldn’t be happier to partner with her, Roku and TeaTime to take viewers on a wildly funny and entertaining ride,” said Steve Lescroart, president, Boat Rocker Studios, scripted, in a statement.
“Zoe Lister-Jones has written a truly fantastic show with Slip,” added Colin Davis, head of scripted originals, Roku. “It was so easy to say yes to this project and we are thrilled to partner with Boat Rocker and TeaTime Pictures to bring Slip to The Roku Channel.”
Boat Rocker acquired a minority stake in TeaTime Pictures in late 2021, which was an expansion of a first-look deal signed with the production company in 2019.
