Global has acquired the new NBC true-crime limited series The Thing About Pam, starring Renée Zellweger in her broadcast TV debut, and the CBS comedy How We Roll.
Corus Entertainment has announced the two shows as part of Global’s 2022 mid-season lineup, which also includes the previously announced season 42 of Survivor, season 5 of 9-1-1 and season 10 of Big Brother Canada.
The Thing About Pam is a straight-to-series order premiering March 8 with a cast that also includes Josh Duhamel and Judy Greer. The 6 x 60-minute series is based on the 2011 U.S. murder of Betsy Faria for which her husband Russ — who maintained his innocence — was convicted and later exonerated. Zellweger is an executive producer on the series and plays Pam Hupp, who was later charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death.
The Thing About Pam is produced by Blumhouse Television, NBC News Studios and Big Picture Co. Jenny Klein is showrunner and executive producer. Other executive producers include Carmella Casinelli, Mary-Margaret Kunze, Scott Winant, Jessica Borsiczky, Liz Cole, Noah Oppenheim, Jason Blum, Chris McCumber and Jeremy Gold.
Set for a March 31 premiere is How We Roll, based on the life story of professional bowler Tom Smallwood. The scripted series stars comedian Pete Holmes as Tom, a Midwest husband and dad who pursues his dream of becoming a professional bowler after getting laid off from a car assembly line. The cast also includes Katie Lowes as his wife, Chi McBride as his mentor, Julie White as his mom and Mason Wells as his son. How We Roll is produced by CBS Studios. Mark Gross, David Hollander and Brian d’Arcy James are the executive producers. Mark Cendrowski directed the pilot. The series is distributed by ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group.
