A management shakeup has seen John Gossling appointed sole CEO of Corus Entertainment.
Gossling, who is also CFO, was appointed co-CEO in June 2024 alongside Troy Reeb, then the EVP of networks and content, following the departure of Doug Murphy. According to a release, Gossling, who joined Corus in 2016, will continue to act as CFO on an interim basis.
Troy Reeb (pictured) has stepped down as co-CEO effective today (June 4), and will leave the company “to pursue other opportunities,” the release states. “I have full confidence that Corus has a bright future under the leadership of John and the talented management team,” said Reeb in a statement.
“In light of the evolving industry landscape as well as the actions taken to date to stabilize the capital and debt structure of the company, the board has decided to transition back to a single CEO structure,” said Mark Hollinger, lead independent director and co-chair of the human resources and government committee.
Corus’ board of directors also announced several other executive updates, including an expanded mandate for Jennifer Abrams, who has been appointed SVP, content and marketing. Abrams will now oversee Corus’ content and marketing creation in addition to programming for Global, Corus’ specialty channels and streaming services.
Jennifer Lee will oversee additional operational functions as chief legal officer, chief administrative officer and corporate secretary. She will also continue to oversee regulatory and public affairs, a role she has held since joining Corus in 2021.
Ward Smith, SVP news and audio, now reports directly to Gossling.
Barb McKergow, SVP, advertising; Shawn Kelly, EVP, technology and Bianca Williams, SVP people and culture are all continuing on the company’s senior leadership team.
