Téléquébec
Téléquébec has acquired the rights to the documentary WANTED: Women in Science from Paris-based global boutique TV co-producer and distributor APC Studios.
The Quebec public educational network is among several international sales APC has secured for the project, with others including NHK for Japan and RTL for Belgium.
Produced by APC Studios and j2f Production for French national pubcaster France Télévisions, the 52-Minute doc (pictured) marks APC Studios’ first co-production in the factual space.
Featuring interviews with young female scientists talking about gender parity issues, WANTED: Women in Science bowed on France 2 on Oct. 6, and is available on France Télévisions’ on-demand platform, France.tv.
APC joint-CEOs and co-founders Laurent Boissel and Emmanuelle Guilbart are the doc’s co-producers.
Hayu Canada
The Circus is coming to town on streaming service Hayu Canada.
Australian global content distributor Fred Media has made a series of regional deals with Hayu for both seasons of the New Zealand-produced reality series about the Weber Brothers Circus family.
Fred Media, which is backed by Australian parent company and indie prodco WTFN, also secured deals in the U.K., Ireland, Benelux and Australia.
The Circus is a production of New Zealand’s Stripe Studios for NBCU NZ (Bravo TV), where it’s been a ratings hit and recently renewed for a third season, which is set to launch later in 2022.
Epic Storyworlds
Québec City-based kids entertainment company Epic Storyworlds has invested in global direct-to-fan premium play company HUGE! Play.
Epic Storyworlds aims to use HUGE! Play’s GameBud technology on its characters and stories as the Canadian prodco expands its global presence in TV, digital and gaming to consumer products.
GameBud takes fan-favourite gaming characters and personifies them in 3D to deliver two-way game interactions with players in real time.
Co-founded by Steve Couture and Ken Faier, Epic Storyworlds is a kids IP developer and sister company to Toronto-based Epic Story Media.
Brain Power Studio
Newmarket, Ont.-based global entertainment content creator and distributor Brain Power Studio’s original holiday programming has landed on VIZIO’s WatchFree+ on-demand streaming service.
Eight films from the Canadian media company are now available on the free U.S. platform’s holiday movie pop-up channel, including Christmas on 5th Avenue, A Very Country Christmas, Snowbound for Christmas and Hometown Holiday.
Brain Power develops, produces, finances and distributes live-action and animated projects for the global marketplace, with a production slate that includes more than 40 titles.
