Sheri Elwood’s CBC East Coast dramedy Moonshine will be back next season with a new face in town.
Allan Hawco is set to join the dysfunctional Finley-Cullen clan and returning stars Jennifer Finnigan, Anastasia Phillips, Emma Hunter, Tom Stevens, Alexander Nunez, Peter MacNeill, Corrine Koslo, Erin Darke, Farid Yazdani, James Gilbert, Celia Owen and Calem MacDonald when Moonshine returns for its sophomore season next fall.
Hawco (Republic of Doyle, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan) joins the cast as biker Gale Favreau, following his steamy encounter with Jennifer Finnigan’s Lidia in the season one finale. Picking up where the first season ends, the next chapter will include epic dance routines, dirty bingo, snow crab-jacking and a high-stakes turf war with a band of outlaw bikers, all the while as Lidia tries to save their summer campground business.
Guest stars finalized for the second season include Jonathan Silverman (Weekend at Bernie’s), Shelley Thompson (Trailer Park Boys), Jonathan Torrens (Mr. D), Leigh Ann Rose (The Young and the Restless), Ernie Grunwald (Call Me Fitz), Joe Cobden (The Sinner), and Kirstin Howell (Diggstown).
“With a narrative expertly crafted by Sheri Elwood, we’re so proud of Moonshine‘s ability to captivate audiences with its motley crew of characters navigating family dynamics, set against a stunning Nova Scotia landscape and timeless soundtrack,” said Jocelyn Hamilton, president, Canada, eOne Television in a statement.
“The pedigree of talent behind and in front of the camera is remarkable, and we’re looking forward to delivering another stellar season of this show to Canadian audiences next year.”
Adds Elwood in a separate statement: “I’m thrilled by this early vote of confidence from CBC. I’ve never worked with such a brilliant cast, and the more we scratch the surface of this band of eccentric characters, the more I fall in love with them.”
