The Talent to Watch exec leaves after close to three years with the funder.

ej-alon-telefilm-01E.J. Alon will depart Telefilm as VP, industry development after close to three years with the organization.

The exec has “accepted a key leadership role with another organization,” according to an announcement from Telefilm, which states his last day is today (July 14).

Francesca Accinelli, VP, promotion, communication and international relations, will take over Alon’s Talent Fund duties in the interim.

Alon first joined Telefilm in 2019 as director of the Talent Fund and previously worked as the senior director of development for City of Toronto agency TO Live. His other past roles include director, philanthropy and mentorship at the Toronto International Film Festival and director of individual giving at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.

During his time at Telefilm, Alon led the continued evolution of the Talent Fund, was a leader in the rollout of the COVID-19 relief funds and served as co-chair of the organization’s Equity and Representation Action Committee alongside Kathleen Beaugé.

“Telefilm would like to thank E.J. for his work in helping to shape the Canadian audiovisual ecosystem and continuing to be a champion for Canadian talent,” wrote the funder in the announcement.

The organization’s now eight-member executive leadership team is also seeking to fill a new role. Applications closed last week for a VP, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion to act as the “main link between Telefilm Canada and key industry groups.”
