Toronto’s Portfolio Entertainment has unveiled a number of new sales for 2D-animated show Addison (50 x 11 minutes, pictured).
Produced by Six Eleven Media, the STEM-based series aimed at ages four to six is headed to new territories such as Kidstream for the U.S., PCCW for Hong Kong and A+ Kids for France and Africa.
The CBC Kids original follows the adventures of seven-year-old inventor Addison, who loves to solve mysteries. Along with her friends, characters use their imagination, reasoning and enthusiasm to figure out what’s behind the latest neighbourhood conundrum.
Addison launched on CBC Kids in 2017 and with recent deals inked by Portfolio for the series including Azoomee for Spain, Italy, Germany, Brazil, France, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, the Netherlands, Malta, India, Poland, Russia, Eastern Europe, APAC and MENA, Encourage TV and Busy Bee for the U.S. and Tencent for China.
True and the Rainbow Kingdom
Toronto’s Guru Studio and U.K.-based bRAND-WARD Services are bringing True and the Rainbow Kingdom‘s melodies to Warner Music.
Revealed earlier this week, Warner Music will launch its first single from the Guru Studio animated show this month, followed by additional singles and albums throughout 2021.
Previously, TRUE: Tunes, the franchise’s first album, was released by Guru Studio in 2020 and garnered over 100,000 streams in the first 30 days. “There’s been incredible demand for True products and content from kids and parents all over the world,” Jonathan Abraham, VP of sales and business development at Guru Studio said in a statement. “This is the first of many announcements we have coming up for True products.”
Produced by Guru Studio, based on the artwork of FriendsWithYou, the animated series launched on Netflix in 2017 and is executive produced by artist Pharrell Williams. In the U.K., a range of consumer products are set to launch shortly, with global partners, licensees and retailers launching products later this year.
Sinking Ship Entertainment
Sinking Ship Entertainment’s teen mystery series Lockdown has launched in Neutral Spanish on the YouTube Originals for Kids & Family channel. The Spanish-language version of the popular show launched on May 5 to coincide with Cinco de Mayo.
Created by Sinking Ship principal J.J. Johnson and shot entirely via webcam and smartphone, Lockdown follows a group of bored teens who team up online to solve a mystery involving one of their neighbours. The show was commissioned by YouTube in April 2020 as part of a slate of short-turnaround originals, and was later acquired by Family Channel in Canada for a second window.
