Maverick Carter set for virtual keynote at BANFF ’21

The SpringHill Company CEO's keynote address will be part of Banff World Media Festival's Summit Series lineup.

M averick Carter, CEO of The SpringHill Company and longtime business partner of LeBron James, is set to give a virtual keynote at the 2021 edition of Banff World Media Festival (BANFF).

Carter’s keynote is part of the BANFF Summit Series lineup and is scheduled for June 16.

The entrepreneur and media mogul is viewed as a highly influential figure in the sports and media landscape, especially for his role in helping usher in a new era of athlete empowerment.

As head of The SpringHill Company, Carter has produced projects including the Emmy-winning doc What’s My Name, Muhammad Ali Part I, the upcoming Space Jam sequel titled Space Jam: A New LegacyThe Shop: UNINTERRUPTED (HBO), gameshow The Wall (NBC) and Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker (Netflix). The SpringHill Company also owns the athlete empowerment brand Uninterrupted.

Elsewhere, Carter serves on the board of directors for Live Nation Entertainment and Equinox Group. He is also on the advisory council for Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, Walmart’s Opportunity Leadership Council and the LeBron James Family Foundation.

The festival’s 42nd edition runs from June 14 to July 16. This year’s lineup of speakers includes Netflix’s co-CEO and chief content officer Ted Sarandos, Warner Bros. Television Group chairman Channing Dungey, producer Greg Berlanti; The Flight Attendant star Kaley Cuoco, director and CEO of Mad Rabbit Kari Skogland and Kevin Feige, president, Marvel Studios and chief creative officer, Marvel. In addition, CRTC chairperson and CEO Ian Scott and Minister of Canadian Heritage Steven Guilbeault will also give keynote addresses.
