Roku acquires The Wedding Planners for U.S. audiences

The Brain Power Studio-produced series was commissioned by Citytv in 2020 for its Fall in Love Fridays lineup.

Citytv original series The Wedding Planners will make its U.S. debut on the Roku Channel.

The U.S. streaming platform has picked up the rights to the 8 x 60-minute first season, produced by Newmarket and Barrie, ON, prodco Brain Power Studio in association with Citytv. It will premiere on the service on Friday (March 5).

The series, which follows three siblings who take over their mother’s wedding planning business after she passes away, was commissioned by Rogers Sports & Media for its Fall in Love Fridays lineup on Citytv. It premiered on March 27, 2020; a second season has not yet been announced.

Brain Power Studio Rights handles distribution of the series, which was previously acquired by French channel M6 for audiences in France.

“We are thrilled to be launching The Wedding Planners in the U.S. on The Roku Channel after the show’s success in other territories,” said Beth Stevenson, executive producer and founder of Brain Power Studio, in a statement. “The combination of these sassy siblings and wedding drama, jam packs each episode with great entertainment value.”

Stevenson is an executive producer on The Wedding Planners alongside Nancy Yeaman. It is produced by Miles Milne.
