Shudder
AMC Networks’ horror, thriller and supernatural streaming service Shudder has picked up Montreal filmmaker Elza Kephart’s feature SLAXX (pictured).
Co-written by the director and scientist-turned-horror-producer Patricia Gomez Zlatar, Kephart’s third feature film made its world debut as part of the Fantasia International Film Festival yesterday (Aug. 23). Shudder has acquired all rights to the horror-comedy in the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
Produced by Gomez Zlatar, Anne-Marie Gélinas and Shaked Berenson, SLAXX follows a possessed pair of jeans that wreaks havoc on staff locked in at a trendy clothing store. It stars Sehar Bhojani, Stephen Bogaert, Romane Denis, Brett Donahue and Kenny Wong.
The streamer has also acquired two other female-forward horror films at the festival: director and co-writer Vincent Paronnaud’s Hunted (world premiere, Belgium/France) and director Natasha Kermani’s Lucky (international premiere, U.S.). Shudder holds all rights to Hunted and Lucky in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
