Culinary competition series The Great Canadian Baking Show has been renewed for a fourth run.
Produced by Proper Television in association with CBC and Love Productions, the homegrown take on The Great British Bake Off sees amateur bakers from across the country partake in a number of culinary challenges that showcase and celebrate their families and communities, while testing their technical skills in the kitchen. Proper Television co-presidents Lesia Capone and Cathie James serve as executive producers on The Great Canadian Baking Show, while Marike Emery is a series producer.
According to an FAQ application page about season four, a start date for production has yet to be confirmed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, the plan is to have this latest season return to the Canadian Film Centre grounds. For now, the show will conduct virtual one-on-one baking auditions with potential contestants, with the application deadline set for June 15.
Season one and two of the competition ran for 8 x 60 minutes – with season three receiving an additional episode, The Great Canadian Holiday Baking Show, focused on bakers from previous seasons taking part for the title of first Holiday Star Baker.
